General blogs Vs Niche blogs

We were just now discussing about money making through affiliate marking using blogs. But what we could not decide was whether we should create niche blogs or simple general blogs? Some people have the opinion that niche blogs are much more effective than general blogs if you want to go into affiliate marketing. But we have some more reasons to doubt this.

One of my friends, who lives in Atlanta earns a high 5 figure income every month from a single general blog with affiliate marketing. He has set up a single blog with many categories and now, he promotes using his blogs categories. His website rank very well for many competitive keywords and he is getting very good amount of traffic every day. His Alexa Rank is some about 44,000 and he gets many affiliate sales every day.

So, now the question is – whether we should go on his route or we should go for many niche blogs? As for now, I have decided to start on his line. But I will have to see, what actually is in store for me.
